No voice hush’d is an intimate, all-inclusive event, showcasing New York City bands fronted by female identifying musicians and interdisciplinary artists.
According to recent studies, women make up only about 11% of total number of songwriters. In the NYC rock/punk scenes in particular, female-identifying musicians must fight several orders of magnitude harder than their male peers for their voices to be heard. In the visual art world only a third of gallery-represented artists are female-identifying.
Art Videos, paintings, installations and more share a literal and figurative stage with the bands and poets performing that night, united by creation from a non-male-identified perspective. Muchmore’s, the event’s venue, is a DIY space in Brooklyn known for its inclusiveness.
No voice hush’d is focuses on the artistic power of this group, providing for them a platform of support and a spotlight for their work.
Reflecting upon current political circumstances, all proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) to support the fight against anti-abortion restriction.
